Fundraiser weekend

A heartfelt thank you to our performers, volunteers, and patrons for making our fundraiser show “Flamenco at MacEwan” such a success on Friday night at MacEwan University’s Betty Andrews Recital Hall.

In case you missed it – our 2018 flashmob choreography, created by festival favourite Stephanie Pedraza, was presented at the show by local performers – Carmen Locke, Jen Dunford, Jim Findlay, Jolene Yuen-Jung, Julie Trohimchuk, and Susan MacGregor. Stay tuned! We’ll be offering opportunities to learn the flashmob and join in the fun in the new year.

We had a great afternoon of workshops with guest dancer Tracy Cumberbatch on Saturday.  The Introductory class learned a section of choreography por tangos while the Intermediate and Advanced classes focused on working with manton (shawl). We walked away inspired, some of us with new-found shoulder muscles and a desire to practise and make those shawls fly.

Thanks to all who filled out our survey and congratulations to our door prize winner Sonya Witzman! We’ll be in contact about your 2 free tickets to our April 20th performance “El Llanto Se Mueve” with the Jairo Barrull Flamenco Company at the Winspear.
